{"id":2393,"date":"2018-01-01T11:00:30","date_gmt":"2018-01-01T02:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/labor-consultant.com\/?p=2393"},"modified":"2018-01-01T11:08:29","modified_gmt":"2018-01-01T02:08:29","slug":"efforts-from-companies-to-reduce-passive-smoking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/labor-consultant.com\/ja\/2018\/01\/01\/efforts-from-companies-to-reduce-passive-smoking\/","title":{"rendered":"Efforts from companies to reduce passive smoking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2389 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/labor-consultant.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/No-smoking-and-Smoking-area-labels-300x211.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"484\" height=\"340\" srcset=\"https:\/\/labor-consultant.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/No-smoking-and-Smoking-area-labels-200x141.jpg 200w, https:\/\/labor-consultant.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/No-smoking-and-Smoking-area-labels-300x211.jpg 300w, https:\/\/labor-consultant.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/No-smoking-and-Smoking-area-labels-400x281.jpg 400w, https:\/\/labor-consultant.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/No-smoking-and-Smoking-area-labels-600x422.jpg 600w, https:\/\/labor-consultant.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/No-smoking-and-Smoking-area-labels-768x540.jpg 768w, https:\/\/labor-consultant.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/No-smoking-and-Smoking-area-labels-800x563.jpg 800w, https:\/\/labor-consultant.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/No-smoking-and-Smoking-area-labels-1024x720.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/labor-consultant.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/No-smoking-and-Smoking-area-labels-1200x844.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/labor-consultant.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/No-smoking-and-Smoking-area-labels.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 484px) 100vw, 484px\" \/>\u25c6More than half have \u201cComplete smoker separation\u201d<\/strong><br \/>\nAs the country is striving to reduce the impact of passive smoking, companies completely banning smoking from offices or separating smokers from non-smokers are on the rise.<br \/>\nAccording to Teikoku Databank\u2019s \u201cSurvey on smoke awareness in companies\u201d (Surveyed companies: 23,341 Replies: 10,212 Reply rate: 43.8%), companies who boast \u201ccomplete smoker separation\u201d (A separated properly ventilated area for smoking, or a smoking area placed outdoors) amount to 56.2%.<br \/>\nCompanies that completely ban smoking are 22.1%, companies who reported \u201cincomplete smoker separation\u201d are 10.0%, companies who reported \u201cno specific restriction on smoking\u201d are 7.3%, and \u201ctime related smoking restrictions\u201d are 3.4%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u25c6There is a considerable gap depending on region and industry<\/strong><br \/>\nRegistered efforts have been found vary greatly according to the region and industry of the company.<br \/>\nOf those companies who reported having a total ban on smoking, real estate (44.1%) was at the top, followed by finance (38.2%) and the service industry (33.2%).<br \/>\nThe least represented, showing the difference between industries, are agriculture\/forestry\/fisheries(11.3%), manufacture(11.7%), transportation and warehouses (14.0%) and construction(18.3%).<br \/>\nAs far as the regional differences; while most average from 15% to 19%, Southern Kanto (28.9%) and the Kinki region (23.6%) show increased numbers for metropolitan areas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u25c6The influence of smoking ban legislation<\/strong><br \/>\nAs the Tokyo Olympic Games approach, both the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and local public entities are starting to regulate smoking bans via legislation.<br \/>\nWhen asked what influence they think that a law imposed complete smoking ban in companies would have, around 70% of survey participants replied that it would have no influence.<br \/>\nThose who replied \u201cIt would be beneficial\u201d (8.0%) were mostly represented by the education services industry (22.7%), while those who replied \u201cIt would be harmful\u201d were mostly represented, almost by half, by eating and drinking establishments (47.6%).<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u25c6The continuing move towards smoking ban<\/strong><br \/>\nThe country\u2019s effort in decreasing the number of smokers is expected to continue. While there are differences between industries, surely the influence will be widespread.
