This study focused on employees\u2019 level of satisfaction with their companies\u2019 current welfare policies as well as what kind of welfare measures they would like to see implemented in the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6 The aim of welfare systems and policies<br \/>\nThe most commonly stated goal of welfare policies was \u201cincreasing employee motivation\u201d (60.1%), followed by \u201cemployee retention\u201d (58.8%) and \u201cpersonnel recruitment\u201d (52.6%). (Multiple choice)<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6 Policies companies want to improve on<br \/>\nCompanies were asked which policies they want to improve (establish for the first time, or expand on) in the future, irrespective of whether the policies are currently in place or not.<br \/>\nTop answers included \u201cmental health consultation\u201d (12.4%), \u201cmeasures to create balance between work and treatment\/therapy\u201d (11.5%), \u201csupport to receive full medical check-ups\u201d (10.7%), \u201cpersonal development programs at work\u201d (10.7%), \u201czero overtime days\u201d (10.4%), \u201crunning and supporting the company outing\u201d (10.3%) and \u201cproviding or funding personal development services outside of work\u201d (10.1%).<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6 Level of satisfaction with company welfare policies<br \/>\nWhen asked about their level of satisfaction with their companies\u2019 welfare policies, responses included \u201cneither\u201d (49.4%), \u201csatisfied or somewhat satisfied\u201d (24.4%), \u201cunsatisfied or somewhat unsatisfied\u201d (23.9%). Nearly half of those surveyed responded \u201cneither\u201d, and there was little difference between female and male respondents. Breaking the results down by type of work, part time workers and contract employees were most likely to respond \u201cneither\u201d, while temporary employees were more likely to respond with \u201cunsatisfied\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6 Policies and systems employees feel are necessary<br \/>\nEmployees were surveyed about the policies and systems that they feel are especially needed (multiple choice) and the following were their responses.<br \/>\n\u201cSupport to receive full medical check-ups\u201d (21.8%), \u201cwedding, parental and bereavement leave\u201d (20.0%), \u201crent assistance or housing allowances\u201d (18.7%), \u201csick leave (except for paid holidays)\u201d (18.5%), \u201csick leave\u201d (18.5%), \u201crefresh leave\u201d (16.1%), \u201cmore paid holiday days (e.g. Golden Week, summer leave etc.)\u201d (15.2%), among others.
